Could you not tarry?

Larry Lea in Discipline and Discovery: Learning the Joy of Prayer (1990) offers these suggestions on how to handle offenses against you:

(1) Don't curse it.

(2) Don't rehearse it.

(3) Don't nurse it.

(4) Disburse it.

(5) Trust God to reverse it.

Pastor John Grayson taught a whole series on this theme. It really changed the way I viewed offenses.

Proverbs 25:21-22 "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you."

Romans 12:19-20 "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.Instead, "If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads."
